Sidney Crosby – NHL Top Draft Pick

For the NHL, the arrival of a young superstar is just what the doctor ordered after wiping out last season due to the labour lockout. For Crosby, the waiting is over. He is an NHLer.
Crosby is a prolific scorer who won nearly every trophy up for grabs the last two seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Crosby had 66 goals and 102 assists in 62 games, after a rookie season that featured 54 goals and 81 assists in 59 games. He was Canadian major junior player of the year the last two years
Crosby's salary in the NHL will be a maximum $850,000 US a year under the new labour deal, although that will expand substantially with endorsements. In Pittsburgh, Crosby will share centre stage with Mario Lemieux, a first overall pick himself in 1984. It's hoped they can combined to pull the Pens out of the doldrums and trigger plans for a new arena.
